AAA East Central continued its tradition this year of honoring local police departments for their outstanding efforts in making their communities safer for all modes of travel.  10 Wheeling area departments received Platinum Awards, while nine additional departments were honored with Gold, Silver, or Bronze awards.

“We are honored to recognize these local departments for their efforts in the Community Traffic Safety Program,” said J.J. Miller, AAA East Central Safety Advisor. “Each organization has gone above and beyond their call of duty to make their community a safer place for motorists and residents.”

The recipients of the prestigious awards were: Belington Police, Moundsville Police, New Martinsville Police, Wheeling Police; and West Virginia State Police Troop 1 - Moundsville and Wheeling; and the sheriff's departments in Hancock County, Marshall County, Ohio County, and Wetzel County.
